What a Year! 01-05-09 10:46am CST
This past year has been wonderful, exciting, adventurous, and a true blessing. Dan and I have been blessed to be able to serve the Lord together and to bond more and more everyday.

Here is a recap of our adventures in 2008:
-Began roughly with my Dad's passing on Jan. 6th
-celebrated in the birth of a beautiful baby
-presented a conference paper in Roehampton, England
-Vacationed in London, Oxford, and Paris
-Bought our first home
-spent Christmas with our wonderful family
-found out that good friends will welcome new babies soon
-taught two College Writing classes...and survived
-finished a substantial portion of my thesis
-learned more about the lives of our fellow Christians through good talks, warm meals, and fun get-togethers
-finished off the year with a lot of chocolate:)

I'm excited about what 2009 holds...my twin sister's wedding, graduation, and teaching Bible class in the summer.

Oh, here are some of my favorite pictures right now:)

misslynnLove your pictures! So glad I got to be part of your year. How about a day together on Thursday?
misslynnIt just makes me appreciate the sunshine and warm weather all the more! I have finished (as of about 5 minutes ago) all the work taxes! Yay! Now I am just waiting on signatures and copying before filing. Whew!
misslynnI'm a sunshine girl :) Gloomy is fine if you can stay home with a cup of tea!
misslynnHow did the devotional go? Did Paul lose his voice? Did dessert go okay?
babyfaceThanks for hosting last night. It was fun!
janarrodaww..cute pics...i recognize that entry way with stairs...looks very familiar!! :) of course jacob looks cute too!
ilovepondsYou have had a fun-filled and blessed year, with lots more to look forward to in the year ahead. Thanks so much for all of your sweet, encouraging comments on my pleo!
misslynnThe Death by Chocolate was not original with me; it was from Nelda Bracksieck. What kind of phrase was "as always"? It didn't really bother me to have it in the middle of the sentence since it was partitioned by commas.
smallfry79So happy that your 2008 was wonderful & hope your 2009 is even better! I gotta say, I think the 1st picture is my favorite. ;-)
windham4lifelots of good happenings throughout the year!
bekWhat a great year! I know this year will be just as great for ya'll~
audgeThanks Melissa...looks like Austin is treating ya'll very well :)
imaprettypenguinCute pictures!! How's everything? I am so glad you are on facebook now!!
kaceyatthebatCool! Thanks so much. Ken is using a floorplan website to plan our bathroom remodel, but I hadn't thought of using one for arranging furniture.
imaprettypenguinI know it's a good example of how we should all be. Children are so forgiving, understanding, and most of the time honest. THey just have the kindest hearts.
ewalkerIt was a a blast, thanks for having us!
dyfsBeautiful pictures! :) I look forward to seeing you too! The devotional will be either tomorrow's or Friday's on www.finishthecourse.com . Have a great day!
kimgriffithNo biggie...I still love ya. I am right past the first tri but for some reason my body is acknowledging the whole "you are only sick in the first tri" thing. I feel better but still in a funk. Love your pics....you look so at ease with kiddos ;)!! Looks like you had a great 2008...can't wait to see what your 2009 looks like.
misslynnI am DESPERATE for Thursday!!!

Have a Happy Day everyone 12-31-08 07:09am CST
You can't watch this and not laugh
misslynnThat poor baby is almost in spasms! I've never heard a baby laugh so hard!
ilovepondsI wonder what was the baby's point of view? What was cracking him up, the sounds or maybe a tickle under the table?
janarrodhey we never did make it to starbucks!!
jarrodThat was hilarious! Reminded me a bit of Austin.
windham4lifelol...that was so cute and funny!
roseofsharonI wish laughter still came that easy for me. I love the happiness of childhood!
kendraluluHappy New Year! :)

I think I have my first cedar fever headache. Yuck!

Keep Austin allergenic!
diannaOh, no fun!! Hope it passes soon. We hopefully will find out 2 weeks from today. :)
kendraluluYeah, Craig has to start taking meds soon. :(
kendraluluBruce Lee is cool....I've actually seen a movie about his life story...yeah, I'm a nerd. :P
ilovepondsThose leave you sick for days. Encouraging words, huh?
4tea_somethingCongratulations? You know, if you lived here..... ;-)
4tea_somethingAnd you are the perfect daughter period--pretend or otherwise:)
windham4lifeurg that is no fun!

Slight change of plans 12-29-08 04:54pm CST
Well, today turned out nothing like I envisioned.

My original plan:
To spend 10 hours working on thesis. Goal--get 10 pages down on paper (well, computer).

The way my day ended up:
-Doing 2 hours of thesis--only research, no writing:(
-shopped online at Sur la Table
-emailed my husband a youtube video of Chuck Norris kicking through a car windshield.
-played Word Warp for 20 minutes
-took a 20 minute power nap
-went for a run
-washed the car
-repotted a plant

Obviously, I was doing everything but work. I should not take 4 day breaks anymore:)

This slight change of plan will inevitably make my week a bit harder. Oh well... [throwing hands up]

Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!
lbellsee you next week :) :) :)
maryelThis sounds like the way I write a paper. I also nap with my head on a book when I study - osmosis, you know.
texanmandyHaha! Sounds like me while I was "studying" for finals!
kendraluluI didn't know Dan was a Chuck Norris fan. :)
misslynnEveryone one needs an escapist day like that once in a while. Now... BACK TO WORK!!!!! (giggle)
4tea_somethingAs Kevin would say, you worked on it in your mind. That counts. He has a point.
edanHere is the video for future reference.
diannaI tend to have more of those kind of days than I'm willing to admit! ;) Hope your Tuesday is productive! :)

My curiosity is piqued 12-23-08 09:32pm CST
I'm taking a poll.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (Gene Wilder version)

a) Love it!
b) Hate it!
c) Indifferent.
d) Never seen it.
(2 older comments)
edanb because it's weird. I like Oompa Loompas though
dirkA!!!
texasgroovychicb cause I'm not that big on Gene Wilder... I think he's bit annoying
iamchriswindham
musikluver05Probably a mix of b and c. That version is really creepy to me. But I don't completely loathe it. Wait a minute - maybe I do. :)
misslynnLove you! Lots of fun surprises start tonight! Yaaaaaaayyyyyy!
misslynnBring rope! You'll have to tie me down!
jollyyellowgiante. it scares me
jollyyellowgiantso i guess that falls under b

kimgriffitha/b. It's just a little creepy.
jimandtyraI think I'm going with 'hate it.' That boat ride through the tunnel did me in as a kid.
maryel
janarroda.
dirkSounds fun. I am amazed at all of the D's... and B's. It's such a classic. We actually own it. It's one of Alyssa's favorites too. I refuse to watch the latest one because I know it can't compare with the first one (plus I hear it's just weird).
sponjenI say b to both. The most recent one is REALLY creepy!
windham4lifeI'm not sure who Gene Wilder is...lol. I've seen the newest version. It was ok. I guess I would go with C-indifferent.
misslynnBest Christmas EVER! And thanks for my special non-corporeal gift!! And for the extra night! And my candle! And for YOU! I love you :D
katcoxc. It's been so long since I saw the movie, I don't remember much about it, but it did scare me a little.
kaceyatthebat
texanmandyIt was good seeing you too! Maybe I will be able to come around more often next semester since I won't be working! We will see how busy school gets though... :/
